10 Biggest U.S. Casinos by Square Feet: Part 1

Biggest casinos in USThere are more casinos in the United States than in any other country. But not all casinos are created equal: some are known for their slots or table games while others are known for the number of live poker tables or high-limit areas. Other casinos are known for horseracing, greyhound tracks, and sports-betting parlours.

Generally, though, the bigger the casino the better it is. The greater the square feet the better the chances are that you’ll be able to enjoy almost every game imaginable. While most would probably guess that the biggest casinos in America are in Las Vegas, Sin City doesn’t make an appearance in the top 10.

Canadians and other non-U.S. residents who like to play the slots or table games need to remember that their casino winnings could be subject to a 30% withholding tax by the IRS. Fortunately, with Refund Management Services (RMS), there is a way for you to get a portion or all of that withholding tax back.

Biggest Gaming Floors at U.S. Casinos

Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Chicago, Detroit, and Philadelphia might be the five biggest cities in the U.S. for gambling, but none of them are home to the 10 biggest casinos in America. In fact, if you want to visit the biggest casinos in the U.S., you’ll have better luck in Oklahoma, California, and Connecticut.

Here is a list of the five biggest casinos in America based on square footage.

5 U.S. Casinos with the Biggest Gaming Floors

WinStar World Casino and Resort

WinStar is home to the biggest casino in the U.S. and, if you count gaming machines, it’s the biggest casino in the world. WinStar Wold Casino is located in Thackerville, Oklahoma, two hours south of Oklahoma City and 90 minutes north of Dallas.

U.S. Gaming Winnings Subject to 30% Withholding Tax

If you travel to the U.S. and visit a casino or racetrack or play in a poker tournament and win a substantial amount of money, your winnings could be subject to a withholding tax by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Residents of foreign countries without a U.S. tax treaty will be subject to a 30% withholding tax.

BUT, if you live in a country like Canada that has signed a U.S. tax treaty, you may be eligible for a refund.

There are a number of countries that currently do not have a U.S. tax treaty. However, if you reside in any of the following countries, you could still be eligible for a refund: Australia, Bahrain, Barbados, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kuwait, Mexico, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the U.A.E.
